Almost adjacent to West Stow Country Park. A small site but rich in Breckland plants.

Lackford Wildfowl Reserve

A restored gravel pit attracting a wide range of birds. Birds can be viewed from the hide at West Stow Country Park which overlooks the site.

Barnham Cross Common
Local Nature Reserve. 73 hectares.
Chalky to acid grassland with a range of associated plants butterflies and moths. Leaflet available.

Cranberry Rough
33 hectares
Park at Stow Bedon. Part of Great Eastern Pingos trail. Walk the disused line. Access to other trails and footpaths in the area.

Thornpson Common
Norfolk Naturalists Trust. 125 hectares
Park at Stow Bedon Railway car park. Access to Great Eastern Pingos trail through the reserve and along footpaths nearby. See pingos, meadows, woodlands and wetlands. Wildflowers galore.

East Wretham Heath Norfolk Naturalists Trust. 147 hectares,
Park in car park outside warden's house. Visitor centre and information point with nature trail and blind trail. Meres, breck heath and pine woodland.

Wayland Wood
Norfolk Naturalists Trust. 34 hectares
Ancient woodland with splendid spring flowers. Supposed setting for 'Babes in the Wood' story. Limited parking.

Weeting Heath
Norfolk Naturalists Trust.
Breck heath grazed by rabbits and surrounded by arable and pine forest. Best place for seeing stone curlews from hides.

Grimes Graves
English Heritage 40 hectares
Ancient flint mines. Breckland heath and pines. Car park, visitor reception point and exhibition.
